Provides secure, managed data storage – virtualized across all attached storage nodes.  All StorageNodes in the cumulus::CyberCloud work together to secure, store, process and manage data.

This node slides into a Symbiote Network Appliance [read more] and will assemble with all other nodes creating a cumulus:CyberLab cloud providing secure, managed data storage.

This allows smooth expand-on-demand scaling as each node contributes storage and processing resources.

Providing local data storage has the benefit of high speed connectivity between the data sources (your instruments) and the data storage – moving it off the instrument quickly and securely so the next use of the instrument can proceed with no data leakage between uses.  Local users also get high speed connectivity while remote users still have full access and receive data at their normal Internet speed.

StorageNodes can be placed in multiple locations with the Replication option protecting your data from catastrophic loss.

Managed Data – Adding structure and automation

Managed data storage makes your data easily accessible when and how it is needed and only by those who are permitted.   Data is organized and given structure with meta-data tags, access rights, and audit trails.

The data is stored in fixed-content (WORM) blocks with a digital signature to ensure its integrity.  The system actively monitors and ensures data integrity – repairing data if it becomes corrupted.

Retention policies can be defined to ensure out-of-date data is deleted or marked for deletion for regulatory or organizational compliance, best practices and manage increasing data volume.

Block level de-duplication and compression options makes more efficient use of storage and transmission resources by eliminating unnecessary duplicate data
